Thought a wet wintery day needed a wet site photo post.
But this is not just any site.
This is our 1st site.
Our practice will formally be 21 years old at the end of June, so we’ve been into the archives and thought we would share some of the projects and things we’ve done as a way of celebrating this anniversary.
This is our very 1st built project.
It was a modest house extension in Brunswick. And what do you do when your 1st frame is up? Celebrate of course! We found the old photos we physically stuck together to create a panorama of the frame party.
Despite the lack of pretension, there were many ideas going on. Formally the ridge of the pitched roof was angled to afford a view of the Brunswick roof-lines (all corrugated tin and brick chimneys) and to let in light and the winter sun. We quickly learnt that a simple tilt of the cardboard model was not so simple for the roof plumber, especially along the raking eaves, which got closer to the boundary as they got lower. (This complied with planning requirements and got us additional roof cover at the back door.)
And lastly for our frame photos, we have included perhaps our favourite services image ever. The Bathroom and Kitchen shared a wall, which meant every bit of wire and plumbing in the house were vying for space. Still the neatest bit of rough-in we’ve ever seen!
