Some fantastic demolition on one of our Foy & Gibson projects.
A portion of an infill floor has been removed to reveal the old brick arch and create double height space at the west / Little Oxford St end of the apartment. While this decreases “real-estate floor area”, it brings the original building fabric and “sense of place” to these previously low ceiling, banal rooms on the lower floor. The light and views from the west facing windows can now be experienced from more locations within the apartment too – by pulling the edge of the floor back, the views and connections are increased. The heritage timber work has also been stripped and making it more of a dramatic feature.
