BLACK materials

A lot of our current projects are heavy on the internal design component, so thought it was a good opportunity to post these images from one of the projects that was built during the lock-down years.

Inside Blackhouse (Mitchell St) the clients wanted to make moody, atmospheric spaces that changed with the time of day and year.

We spent a lot of time standing in tile warehouses, on the footpath outside stone yards or in paint shops with 64 samples of dark materials arranged in front of us and the words of Spinal Tap guitarist, Nigel Tufnel, ringing in our ears:

“…There’s something about this that’s so black, it’s like how much more black could this be? And the answer is none, none more black.”
